I saw "American Pie" over the weekend, and I can't help thinking:
How many "Buffy" geeks saw that movie just to hear Allison Hannigan talk dirty?
How many of them have .wav files of her screaming, "Say my name, bitch!"
My senior prom sucked. They hired some third-rate metal band for the dance, the food was iffy, and my date spent a lot of time dancing with some other guy. Waste of a good tuxedo rental. The weird thing was that this other girl asked me to her prom at a different school on the same night. In retrospect, I should have gone with her. Probably would have had a lot more fun.
As it was, I blew off my ten-year reunion in 1998 because I had the lead in Marlowe's "Tamburlaine the Great". Not quite as cool as a Prom-night kiss-off, but not bad.
Interesting note: my senior prom date is now a security guard at City Hall. Do you know how disconcerting it is to see a girl you once tried to put the moves on, to get that flash of recognition, then the bitter memory, then realize she's carrying a pistol?
Yikes.
